Product Description
Important safety tips for parents and kids, including an up-to-date way for kids to think about "strangers." DVD running time is 42 minutes. Appropriate for kids, ages 5-10 years, though many customers say their 4 year olds love it too! Hot Tips mini-poster and three safety badges included. Winner of numerous parenting and media awards

Kid safety is an important, yet often difficult topic of discussion between parents and children. The Safe Side's "Safe Side Super-Chick" is a decidedly zany host who successfully combines slapstick humor with serious, practical safety tips for kids. "Safe Side Super-Chick" breaks the population down into three quickly discernable categories: "Safe Side Adults" that kids know well and can always trust to keep them safe, "Don't Knows" like the mail carrier or the lady at the park and "Sorta Knows" like a coach or a schoolmate's parent. As "Safe Side Super-Chick" interacts with "Don't Knows" and "Sorta Knows", she offers seven specific safety tips to keep kids safe and, with the help of real kids, details simple, concrete actions and phrases that empower kids in a variety of potentially dangerous situations. Best of all, the presentation is never scary, but always extremely funny--that means that kids ages 2 to 10 will actually enjoy learning about safety. Kudos to Julie Clark (creator of Baby Einstein) and John Walsh (host of America's Most Wanted) for creating a safety video that's highly entertaining, informative, and practical. --Tami Horiuchi

5 out of 5 stars Great safety video   September 7, 2010
Kimberly
Excellent video on safety. The kids found it really entertaining while it went over some very important points in safety. My 4 year old asks to see it over and over; and she reiterates a lot of the safety points while out shopping, etc. I bought 5 videos to give as gifts to friends kids. Highly recommend seeing this with your kids!

5 out of 5 stars Just What We Were Looking For   August 6, 2010
Daddybyday
My wife and I were looking for a way to introduce safety and caution to our sometimes-too-friendly kidlets (ages 6, 4 and 3), and this video was a terrific part of that. The guidelines in the video are simple and well presented, the video is a bit quirky by fun, and my kids all enjoy watching it. In fact, they even requested it. Over and over. That's a good thing. It has definitely been a valuable part of our teaching our kidlets about keeping themselves safe around strangers.

Peace,
Tom

4 out of 5 stars The Safe Side -- Internet Safety   July 2, 2010
Noname
"The Safe Side -- Internet Safety" is well done, easy for young children to understand. I watched the video with my 6 and 9 year olds. They don't play on the internet without my close supervision, but I want to be ready. It's difficult to ingrain in them the importance of not sharing too much information. I want them to know that just because someone asks, doesn't mean they have to answer. Just because it's on a form, doesn't mean they have to fill it out. This video explains the dangers without being graphic.

The issues discussed include email, pop-ups, revealing too much personal information, and meeting "friends" from the internet. Of that last point, my children got the message loud and clear. Good thing, it is the most important message of all.

5 out of 5 stars A must have video for kid's safety   June 26, 2010
Jennifer Fox (Arkansas)
This video is awesome! It shares all the best info kids need to help keep them safe and does it in a kid friendly way without scaring them. (It's also really funny and they will laugh at the silliness while they are soaking in the important info.) It teaches them great terms such as "a don't know" - used instead of "stranger". Kids sometimes don't understand that strangers can be people who look nice and friendly, but they know exactly what it means to "not know someone". The terms and definitions don't leave any gray area in their mind. I think all kids should see this!
