Product Description Each at a turning point in their lives, a man and woman meet by chance at an inn in a small, coastal North Carolina town.
The sparks between Richard Gere and Diane Lane--so memorable in Unfaithful--smolder again in the sweepingly romantic Nights in Rodanthe. Based on a novel by Nicholas Sparks, the film is unapologetically sentimental, and enjoyable completely on its own terms--a small gem of an escape, complete with storm-tossed coastline. Lane plays Adrienne, a wronged wife whose husband (Christopher Meloni) was a heel, but begs for another chance. She goes to clear her head at a remote North Carolina inn, where the sole occupant is Paul, a doctor, played by Gere, who is battling his own demons. If the writing is on the wall about what will become of our two leading actors, it's to Lane's and Gere's deep credit that they make their tentative connection, wariness, and growing feelings human and quite believable. Love is messy, and grownup love, even more so. As they get to know each other, Adrienne shows Paul a small wooden box that holds her keepsakes: "I made it to keep special things safe." Paul turns to her, looking her squarely but gently in the eye, and says, "What keeps you safe?" At that moment, every woman watching the film is in the palm of his hand. The film squarely addresses the reality that people over age 25 do, in fact, yearn for, and find, love. If only more studios would realize the deep, appreciative audience for films like this. --A.T. Im from North carolina Love the Movie August 26, 2010 Nick People from NC should watch that movie. Outer Banks are amazing, this is a nice movie .
Book Much Better Then Movie..... July 23, 2010 ACSMOM (Thurmont, MD USA) If you liked this movie or didn't read the book. There is a better story here that the film does not capture.
Movie was great, but book was awesome... July 4, 2010 Joshua Jurado (Weslaco, TX USA) This is a great story; of course it isn't better than the book but I really recommend this DVD to everyone who enjoys seeing romance stories.
I also recommend that you read 'A Walk to Remember', 'The Rescue', 'Nights in Rodanthe', and 'The Guardian' by Nicholas Sparks.
Take my word, his books are awesome.
The book was better. June 8, 2010 Joanne Sellner (Savage, MN United States) This was a good movie. The acting was good by Diane Lane. However, after reading the book one would be disappointed. The movie did not follow the book as closely as I had hoped. The book was better.
Underneath Rodanthe May 9, 2010 Simeon Hetherington (Lake Worth, FL) I saw the middle of the movie on HBO, before I had to leave home for an appointment, and fell in love with the story. Had I know about the ending I would never have made the purchase. If anyone saw Under The Tuscan sun (also starring Diane Lane) I guess the ending of "Nights" was inevitable in lieu of Lane's role in the Tuscan movie. From now on, I will be hesitant about buying anymore of her movies.
